First DFW Medical Practice to Incorporate CASPR Air and Surface Disinfecting Technology into COVID-19 Safety Precautions
We are excited to share that Fibroid Institute Dallas is the 1st medical practice of its kind in the Dallas/Fort Worth area to incorporate CASPR air and surface disinfecting technology to COVID-19 safety precautions. The addition of two CASPR Mobile units will reduce dangerous pathogens found in the air and on surfaces throughout the facility. Dental offices, restaurants and airports are also customers of the CASPR technology. Businesses adopting use of the CASPR units in their facilities believe that they cannot put a price on the safety and health of their team members, patients and customers. Fibroid Institute is led by Medical Director Dr. Suzanne Slonim, the leading Dallas fibroids doctor and national advocate for uterine fibroid treatment without surgery.
How CASPR Mobile Units Work
CASPR stands for Continuous Air and Surface Pathogen Reduction, and each CASPR Mobile unit safely reduces pathogens up to 1500 square feet. CASPR technology utilizes a multi-wavelength ultraviolet light and catalyst with a proprietary coating to convert moisture and oxygen in the air into oxidizing molecules, including hydrogen peroxide. The units are up to 99.96% effective against bacteria, viruses, molds—even reducing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and odors. Fibroid Institute Dallas has one CASPR Mobile unit in the lobby and one at the nurses’ station near patient exam rooms.
Dental Office Level Safety
Dallas fibroids doctor Suzanne Slonim, MD first learned about the units through a friend in the dental industry who purchased them from 2C MedTech, a women-led company based in Dallas. Dental procedures have some of the highest risk of spreading coronavirus. Desiring a solution for the air and surfaces with the same level of successful virus reduction as in dental offices, Dr. Slonim immediately started to research getting a device for her women’s health practice. She was so impressed with the data that she was unwilling to reopen the office without the CASPR units.
Fibroid Institute Dallas reopened the day the CASPR units arrived, providing a safer environment for the staff and patients. Team member Stacey West says, “I’m extremely proud to work with an organization that cares enough to provide employees and patients with the cleanest environment. Knowing the CASPR devices in our facilities eliminate 99.96% of all bacteria, mold, and viruses gives me added peace of mind.”
Additional Precautions
The Fibroid Institute Dallas staff takes many precautions to further ensure the safety of employees and patients from COVID-19. These include prescreening patients, scheduling TeleVisits when applicable, reducing the numbers in the office by asking patients to wait in their vehicles, limiting accompanying visitors, social distancing, checking temperatures and disinfecting regularly. Face coverings and PPE are required, and hand sanitizer is available throughout the office.
According to Dallas fibroids doctor Slonim, “We are still very vigilant about screening everyone entering the office, social distancing, wearing masks, and practicing good hand hygiene. But the CASPR Mobile units give me the confidence, the certainty that we’re doing everything we possibly can to keep our patients and ourselves safe.”
Employee and Patient Feedback
Both patients and team members are appreciative of the extra layer of protection against the virus.
“Having the CASPR units helped my mental state when it was time to go back to work. Knowing that it improved the air and surfaces around me makes me feel safer sitting at the front desk checking in patients,” says Front Desk Coordinator Fabiola Villa.
Patient Tanisha B. says, “When I found out the Fibroid Institute had these CASPR devices, it gave me the extra boost I needed to feel comfortable going to my appointment.”
About Fibroid Institute and Dallas Fibroids Doctor Suzanne Slonim
Dr. Slonim founded Fibroid Institute Dallas and the #FibroidFree movement. Her mission is to relieve women of fibroid symptoms and educate them on treatment options other than hysterectomy and myomectomy.
Uterine fibroids affect three out of four women, most often between the ages of 30 and 50. Although usually benign, fibroids may cause life-altering symptoms. Women of African American ancestry are more likely to be affected. Fibroids do not always cause problems, and they are often discovered during tests for other conditions. Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) is a non-surgical fibroid treatment that causes fibroid tumors to shrink and die.
An interventional radiologist, Dr. Slonim is the leading expert in Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) in North Texas. She has performed 30,000+ procedures in over 20 years of practice. As a nationwide advocate for alternative fibroid treatment, Dr. Slonim is author of the book “Pain-Free Periods: Banish Menstrual Misery, Fight Fibroids, and Get Your Life Back”.
